NENA ALLEN

A More Personal Nature
For one year I looked closely at the life around my house including the front and back yard gardens. I watched as perennials came and went leaving their skeletal remains. As observations went beyond the direct and into a world of metaphor and mystery, my studio table filled with gatherings from my gardens and from gardens in the neighborhood. I placed personal items within the scattered leaves and pods to engage the sense of my belonging. These works represent the beginning of a relationship with nature on new, more intimate terms.
